If the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result, then who ever the Republican Party's Congressional nominee paid for the attack ad on Beto O'Rourke owes them a freakin' refund.
The ad focuses on stuff that we've already heard about O'Rourke. The DUI, the burglary thing, etc.
Same thing that was released previously. It didn't work then, so what makes them think it will work now. Here's a tip, considering it a freebie from me. If you're going to whack someone, do it early. Define them from the get-go and make them spend time, treasure, and talent trying to undo it.
When you wait til the last minute to throw something like this, you look exactly like what you are...desperate. Negative messages need time to work. They need to sink in. People need to start talking about it. It takes time to define your opponent. The last minute thing just doesn't work.
And when the Reyes camp used it, at least the commercial was effective. The timing was all wrong, but it wasn't a message that was like capirotada (sp). The What's-Her-Name-Ad was all over the place. And then, they ended the spot on a conversation between Beto O'Rourke and Father Rodriguez in which O'Rourke basically laid the smack down on him.
It was during the Domestic Partner Benefits debate. In fact, if I'm not mistaken it might have actually been the same meeting where devout Catholic City Rep Eddie Holguin also got in to it with Rodriguez.
Seriously, Rodriguez is the guy you're trying to make look like a martyr? Did you guys forget what happened to him and what he allegedly did to his own congregation?
It would take a comeback not seen since the days of Lazarus for O'Rourke to lose.
Terrible commercial. Terrible message. Terrible effort. Hope she kept the receipt.
