Yesterday morning an email was sent to elected officials asking them to rejoin the Tejano Democrats.
Holguin is pushing to try to get the elected officials back because it was once the big feather in the cap of the Tejanos to have all the elected officials as members.
But party disputes and decline in membership started because of Blanche Darley's leadership.
Since election season started so early this cycle it looks like the Tejanos want to take the opportunity to rebuild membership.
Speaking of the election cycle, there is also a plot afoot to try to take over the Party from Chairman Butch Maya. Maya suffered a stroke and has been on the mend for quite some time. There is a Faldo urgency to get rid of Maya because of the upcoming primary election. This is all predicated on the Democratic Party in El Paso actually being able to push turn out.
But let's be real, the Party doesn't do that and the people that hang out in Party events wouldn't know how to push voters if their life depended on it.
