Oh Hey, Speaking of Rainbows...

Remember that big press conference that County Judge Veronica Escobar had for the transgender woman who was arrested by ICE in the courthouse while she was trying to get an order of protection?

Well she's still being incarcerated. She's a victim of that bad policy that Judge Escobar and Sheriff Wiles support. She's being held on an ICE detainer.

No press conferences for her anymore though.

But here's where things get really, really, really sad.

When I tell you what I'm about to tell you, you're gonna say, "hey, that sounds familiar. I've heard that story somewhere before."

Well you probably have. Especially if you watch Orange is the New Black because it sounds exactly like a story line from a couple seasons ago. Here's the dirty little secret:

Sources indicate that the transgender woman is being held in segregation in the county jail.

And my source also indicates that she's not being given her medication (the hormones she needs and everything else).

Thats not a Netflix script, that is the reality of a bad policy.

So yeah, the win on Saturday was big.

But so is this.

Question: Isn't there some criminal charges pending on this individual? In my opinion; this story lacks details on the process regarding the allegations. Just saying... I stand corrected if I'm mistaken."

She was given time served.

So she would be out, except for the fact that Sheriff Wiles follows all the ICE detainers that are requested. She would otherwise be free.

What were the charges Jaime? Wasn't she & her boyfriend the individual 's that were charged with scamming/ripping off the elderly & disabled, stealing their Social Security checks...etc.? Was there already a guilty plea on all or was it only 1 charge? I look forward to your response...

Yes, and they each took a plea.

Her abuser? He's out. He's been out.

She's still there and is only there for an immigration hold.

Interesting to know that you would go to bat for an individual that has admitted scamming, stealing or whatever the charges were; from the vulnerable, innocent, elderly & disabled population. Not trying to get sideways; just my observation. I truly enjoy reading your blog from time to time, but this story sort of touched me; as you can tell.

I go to bar for what I believe is right and wrong. I'm not sure how that's difficult to understand Commissioner. Her actions - for which she had her day in court and was punished accordingly - are entirely separate from the fact that she's being held for something entirely different.

I'm having a hard time understanding how a public servant like yourself doesn't see something wrong with a woman seeking the safety and protection of the justice system ends up still being held after her punishment, and her abuser is free. Where is your sense of justice commissioner?

I appreciate the conversation.

In my opinion: She's not the victim Jaime.., & obviously, we disagree on this one, but it's been interesting & I appreciate your time. My pleasure btw."

How do you figure she's not a victim? Are you making the argument that what she went to court for, was punished for already, means she's not entitled to protect from an abuser?

What justice system are you basing that on, because it's certainly not the American one.

I'm not in support of the abuser at all; that was never my position. I'm in support of the vulnerable, elderly & the disabled population that were taken advantage of & victimized by both these individuals. Once again Jaime. Best to you.

Yeah but she was already punished for what she did. You get a clean slate when you are done. Should their punishment continue indefinitely? She has done her time. Paid her debt to society. She's not being held for that, you understand that right?

This lady is the exact type of individual that gives the undocumented a bad name. She should be punished again for violating our borders and she should be absolutely held in detention so that she doesn't return to her life of crime violating the vulnerable and stealing their money.
